FEnIKS, FENX.05.06 Intermodal Transport
We are implementing a project titled: “Construction of a container transshipment terminal and accompanying facilities in the city of Ropczyce,” which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment 2021–2027 Program.
The project involves the construction of an intermodal transshipment terminal in Ropczyce – close to the eastern border of the EU – and equipping it with modern transshipment equipment (cranes, reach stackers, and empty handlers).
The implementation of the project will primarily result in:
- Providing comprehensive intermodal services and the highest quality of service for freight currently transported in containers by truck over long distances;
- Maintaining the company position as a leading logistics operator in the intermodal transport market in Poland and Europe;
- Eliminating bottlenecks caused by an insufficient number of transshipment terminals on the EU’s eastern border and in southeastern Poland;
- Increasing cargo throughput to and from Ukraine;
- Developing intermodal transport in southeastern Poland;
- Long-term development of the intermodal sector by improving the efficiency and punctuality of rail intermodal transport;
- Reduction of road freight transport in the Podkarpackie Province;
- Increasing significance and standing status of Poland on the European transport map.
The following groups will primarily benefit from the project:
- Our current and future customers and partners;
- Companies located mainly in the Podkarpacie region and in the other regions where our terminals are located;
- Logistics operators and freight forwarders;
- Exporters and importers;
- Everyone who can breathe cleaner air.
The estimated total cost of the investment is 369,130,380.00 PLN (gross), and the amount of funding is 147,798,000.00 PLN.

National Reconstruction Plan (KPO) E2.1.3 Intermodal Projects
1. We are implementing a project titled: “Purchase of 2 electric locomotives to serve the PCC Intermodal S.A. network,” which is co-financed by the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Investments: E2.1.3 Intermodal Projects
As part of the project, we plan to purchase 2 mainline locomotives, which will be used to launch additional rail services.
The implementation of this project will primarily result in:
- An increase in the share of intermodal transport in total freight traffic;
- Reducing the negative impact of transportation on the environment;
- Reducing traffic congestion on Polish roads;
- Developing and integrating various branches of the multimodal transportation system.
The following groups will primarily benefit from the project:
- Our current and future customers and partners;
- Companies located in the regions where our terminals are situated;
- Logistics operators and freight forwarders;
- Exporters and importers;
- Everyone who can breathe cleaner air.
The estimated total cost of the investment is 49,206,150.00 PLN (gross), and the amount of co-financing is 17,559,800.03 PLN.
2. We have completed the project titled: “Purchase of rail platforms to support the PCC Intermodal S.A. network” co-financed by the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Investments: E2.1.3 Intermodal Projects
As part of the project, we purchased 100 rail platforms for transporting containers.
The implementation of the project primarily resulted in:
- An increase in the share of intermodal transport in total freight traffic;
- A reduction in the negative impact of transport on the environment;
- A reduction in traffic congestion on Polish roads.
The following groups benefited most from the project:
- Our current and future customers and partners;
- Companies located in the regions where our terminals are situated;
- Logistics operators and freight forwarders;
- Exporters and importers;
- Everyone who can breathe cleaner air.
The gross cost of the investment was 40,843,021.18 PLN, and the grant amount was 20,417,157.23 PLN.

EU funds
National Recovery Plan (KPO) E2.2.1. Investments in Transportation Safety
We completed a project to equip 5 vehicles with smart tachographs, which was co-financed by the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Investments: E2.2.1. Investments in Transport Safety.
The replacement of the tachographs resulted in:
- An increase in road transport safety;
- Compliance with current legal requirements for international transport;
- Improved quality of data regarding drivers’ work;
- An upgrade in the standard of our fleet’s equipment.
As part of the project, we received funding to cover a portion of the costs associated with the purchase and installation of smart tachographs in five of our company’s vehicles.
The amount of support from the European Union’s NextGenerationEU fund totaled 19,500.00 PLN.

POIiŚ 3.2 (2014-2020)
PCC Intermodal S.A. has implemented 4 projects under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme (2014-2020), Measure 3.2 Development of maritime transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections (group C Intermodal transport).
1. Expansion of the intermodal container terminal in Kutno and the purchase of equipment to support its operations
Project Scope
The scope of the planned investment included the expansion of the current terminal in Kutno through the purchase and installation of additional, specialized transshipment equipment.
Financing
– Total gross project value: PLN 66 395 938,83
– Value of funding from European Funds: PLN 19 102 672,03
Project Goals and Benefits
The investment resulted in an increase in terminal capacity, overall improvement in operational efficiency, and increased competitiveness of PCC Intermodal S.A. in the domestic intermodal transport market.
Project objectives:
• increasing the share of intermodal transport in total freight transport,
• reducing the negative impact of transport on the natural environment,
• reducing vehicle congestion on Polish roads, i.e. improving road safety by reducing the distances for masses of cargo transported by road,
• developing and integrating individual branches of the multimodal transport system,
• improving the quality of available rail infrastructure.
2. Purchase of transshipment equipment and construction of a crane track at the intermodal terminal in Brzeg Dolny
Project Scope
The scope of the planned investment includes the expansion of the existing container transshipment terminal in Brzeg Dolny, consisting of the construction of a crane track and the purchase and installation of additional, specialized transshipment equipment.

– Total gross project value: PLN 79 359 183,07
– Value of funding from European Funds: PLN 18 972 673,44

The investment resulted in increased terminal capacity, overall improved operational efficiency, and increased PCC Intermodal S.A.’s competitiveness in the domestic intermodal transport market.
Project objectives:
• increasing the share of intermodal transport in total freight transport,
• reducing the negative impact of transport on the natural environment,
• reducing vehicle congestion on Polish roads, i.e. improving road safety by reducing the distances for masses of cargo transported by road,
• developing and integrating individual branches of the multimodal transport system,
• improving the quality of available rail infrastructure.
3. Purchase of traction locomotives and railway platforms to support intermodal transport in Poland and the EU
Project Scope
The scope of the planned investment included the purchase of 7 electric locomotives and 150 flatbed freight wagons adapted for container transport.

– Value of funding from European Funds: PLN 89 447 307,16
Project Goals and Benefits
The investment will result in an increase in the volume of cargo transported via intermodal transport, overall improvement in operational efficiency, and increased competitiveness of PCC Intermodal S.A. in the intermodal transport market.
Project objectives:
• increasing the share of intermodal transport in total freight transport,
• reducing the negative impact of transport on the natural environment,
• reducing vehicle congestion on Polish roads, i.e. improving road safety by reducing the distances for masses of cargo transported by road,
• developing and integrating individual branches of the multimodal transport system.
4. Purchase of shunting locomotives to service intermodal terminals in Kutno, Brzeg Dolny and Gliwice
Project Scope
The scope of the planned investment included the purchase of three modernized diesel shunting locomotives to service intermodal terminals in Kutno, Brzeg Dolny, and Gliwice.

In order to meet the above expectations, a simple tool has been made available for reporting suspected irregularities in the implementation of transport projects supervised by CUPT. Reports of irregularities will enable appropriate remedial measures to be taken and will contribute to ensuring the highest standards of project implementation.

Reports may be made anonymously – such reports will be considered, but in the case of reports that are incomplete and where it is not possible to contact the person making the report to supplement the information, there is a risk that such a report cannot be investigated.
All reports are protected from disclosure to unauthorised persons. The report will be received by a designated employee of the Control and Audit Department. The data of the reporting person is protected during and after the proceedings, and the persons considering the report refrain from establishing the identity of the person who submitted the report of irregularities anonymously.
All reports will be carefully considered in accordance with CUPT’s internal procedures and generally applicable law.
